Funding for Historic Courthouse Now on Ballot

Thursday 4 Sep 2014

The Daily Business Review reports that the Miami-Dade County Commission voted 11-2 this week to put a measure on the November 2 ballot asking voters to consider a property tax increase to build a new civil courthouse.  The historic Dade County Courthouse, located at 73 W. Flagler Street is home to 41 judges in 21 courtrooms and is trying to secure funding to secure and restore the facade.  The building also has mold and water intrusion issues, eating away at the foundation. Judges and attorneys throughout the county are rallying to replace the building.

Now it’s in the hands of voters and we’ll have to wait and see what they decide this November.
